🎤 About the Music
John Gay is a singer-songwriter with a voice shaped by experience and a story that stops you in your tracks. His gritty, contemplative sound was forged during a nine-year prison sentence that began in 2011 — much of it written quietly in a storage closet at Fox Lake Correctional Institution, guitar in hand, faith close by.
Since his release in 2017, John has brought that honesty to stages across Wisconsin, blending deeply personal originals with thoughtful covers of artists like Jason Isbell, The Lumineers, Chris Stapleton, and Zach Williams.
His debut singles Death Row and Concrete Floor wrestle with loss, redemption, and reflection — and his live sets carry that same weight, delivered simply and sincerely.
